Set in the pretty fishing village of Alvor close to three beautiful beaches and a popular golf club, the Pestana Alvor Park is part of the international Pestana chain of hotels and timeshares. Its peaceful location attracts family visitors and those wanting to stay away from the tourist trail yet within walking distance of restaurants, bars and cafes.

The attractive, modern, design of this fairly new hotel complex is home to 55 spacious apartments, all luxuriously furnished and with fully-equipped kitchenettes as well as satellite TV. Guests staying in the apartments can take advantage of the amenities at the Pestana Dom Joao II, in addition to enjoying the inner and outdoor swimming pools with their views down to the beaches.

The studio, one and two-bedroomed apartments mostly face south, with some boasting panoramic views over the Atlantic Ocean and the rest with views of the carefully-tended gardens. Furnishings are modern, stylish and comfortable, and the decked outdoor pool area traps the afternoon sun and its warmth.

The timeshare apartments here may well not be suitable for those looking for late-night revels, but previous and repeat guests and timeshare owners on Tripadvisor consider its peace and quiet to be one of the resort’s major attractions. Pestana Alvor Park boasts one restaurant and a single bar, both close by the outdoor pool, and both serving tasty meals or snacks. For more variety, guests can dine at the Pestana Dom Joao II’s or Pestana Alvor Praia’s several restaurants or sip cocktails in a choice of bars. On-site at the Alvor Park you’ll find a fitness centre, Jacuzzi, sauna and Turkish bath.

Other on-site amenities include a games room and library, and children can have fun safely in their own outdoor swimming pool. The resort is popular with golfers for its location close by several good courses, and there’s nighttime entertainment just a 15 minute stroll away in Alvor as well as a good selection of watersports facilities.

Although it’s now a popular visitor destination, Alvor has many picturesque corners holding traditional Portuguese buildings, charming squares and historic churches. Local eateries here serve local dishes as well as Italian, Mexican, Indian and other cuisines, and its Irish bars have live music nightly. Karaoke and Happy Hours are everywhere during the high season, and there’s a Sports Bar showing matches on a wide-screen TV.
